Guys, I posted this just because it is unusual and interesting. A number of you also asked me to put it on the Blog. It certainly isn't a choice I would make, but you are certain to have a variety of reactions.

I think this is a very cool video. I can't believe it is made from bottles. I think it is sad that he isn't living with his family though. If he actually goes to sea, the island will be trashed and all of the bottles will pollute the ocean. I hope he stays put.
This was cool how he made it from at the start just collecting bottles around the city. And now he has an island with cats a dog and a duck. I think if he let tourists come it would be trashed in a second. I do like the idea of sailing around the world on it.
It's amazing that it's the size of a professional tennis court and is made only of fishing nets and plastic bottles. I would think that it would be a pollution concern, since the labels will eventually come off of the bottles, and the plastic will leech chemicals into the water. It would be awesome to live on your own island, in the middle of nowhere, and be totally self-sufficient. What I do wonder, though, is if he is self-sufficient like the video says, how does he get the water? If he's near Cancun, then he is most likely in salt water.
Wow, that was an amazing video. It is really cool that one man could make such a large structure. Who knew plastic water bottles could keep such a huge raft/island afloat. I wonder where Richie will go from there.
I think it is an awesome island especially after three years pf collecting bottles. I also think its amazing from surviving 2 hurricanes and a tropical storm.
I think this man has a very good idea of making the island bigger and bigger. But, the floating around the world is not the best of his ideas. If he does so, there are so many possibilities of things that could happen. I also think it is unfortunate that he doesn't live with his family. How is this island not illegal? He doesn't own the body of water.
Hey JT2 Well you cant own the ocean and prople have the freedom of traviling on open waters so it is leagle for him to go around the world (if he does) and only if its near land and the area isnt public would he not be allowed there. CG2

That was really cool. One question though. If he goes out to sea wouldnt his plants not survive since it is saltwater?

Ya ff6 you are right if he goes out to sea the island will get totally trashed, pollute the ocean, and maybe even sink which could kill the man.
