Al Capone (Prohibition and Gangsters)

While lengthy, this video thorougly covers the "career" of the famous gangster Al Capone. In addition the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Prohibition, and other gangsters are all discussed. I am still amazed by the wealth and power that gangsters like Capone were able to amass during this time period. Still, in the end, crime didn't pay for him, as he wound up in Alcatraz.

This is a great video, definetely worth watching. I like the stories about him killing his enemies, because he does it by tricking the other side. I found it really interesting.

I think that Al Copone must have been a really smart criminal. The question I have is how did the police not arrest Al? He was very popular to the police and was in the newspaper all of the time and had huge mansions.

This video shows the same clip multiple times of Al Capone getting out of a car and walking into a building, with people watching and cameras flashing. If Capone was such a highly wanted person why couldn't the police arrest him in that circumstance, right there on the street?

Wow that was a really interesting video.I didn't know anything about Al Capone before watching that video. Some parts were kind off confusing though. I thought the parts about the gang wars were the most interesting. I never new how rich all of the gangsters were so I was suprised to hear that some of them made millions of dollars.

Sounds like Capone was a genuis. I mean taking refuge in prison, opening soup kitchens to gain popularity, having mutiple safe houses guarded 247 -7. I really woulnt want to tangle with him.

i had heard the name al capone before but i never had really known what he had done. After watching this video i now realize he was a horrible person. He had a lot of power though and that I think is why he is so famous. He could controll everyone in his gang to do his dirty work he was a horrible person.

Hey CM1 and JCon1,
I look up at http://collectibles.about.com/od/pricemiscellaneous/a/blPGcapone0405.htm that the police did arrest Al Capone. He got arrested in 1930 in Miami, the proof is mugshot and fingerprints. Just wanted to let you guys know that Al Capone did get arrested.

The police did not arrest al because he paid them obscene amounts of cash and many thought the gang might try to kill them if they tried
