U.S. Government Newsreel on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
I am really interested to hear your reactions to the film clip. What do you think was the goal of the newsreel?

when they did the tests how did that not have the effect as hiroshima and Nagasaki.
p.s. the one with norman hatch that talked about the clothing of the camera man and the doctor was me.

I think the purpose of this video was to show the world the sheer power of our military and build confidence in our homefront.

I think that the government was trying to make people feel powerful by showing what damage American weapons were doing. But I noticed that the government conveniently forgot to say much about the civilian lives that were lost.

It's pretty awsome how only the reinforced concrete bulidings stood up. Is that because the blast couldnt melt it?

I think the goal of this video was show that war might be over very soon and to help build peoples confidence.
