1950's Commercials

How are modern commercials different from these? Do you feel modern advertisements are more or less effective than these (not necessarily "better")?

Yes the commercials back in he 50s were more effective, they have more of a jingle to them than the commercials today. They also were more "real" back then, selling quality goods, not the plastic or low quality foods they sell today!! After seeing the Tootsie Pop commercial, I noticed that they got alot cheaper on the packaging of the pops. The "party pack was in a box with cellophane over it. Now, they just have bags that only hold a few pops!!

the modern type of commercials are not only in color but are also funnier like most Geico or Allstate commercials.

I believe the older commercials were way more effective. They seem to capture the product realistically, unlike the ads now. Instead of using sprays to make things look shinier, they just show the product. The older advertisements also rely more on songs and catchy tunes than making the product look better than it looks in real life. I believe people want the truth more than just how it looks. The commercials also seem to show more footage of the product, instead of a 15 second slide show with commentary, which they often do nowadays. Although the comments were "cheesier," (*Drinks Coca-Cola* 'Oh, Hi! I didn't see you there!') it makes more of an effect on me!
