The Doolittle Raid (April 18th, 1942)

This daring raid was all the more remarkable due to the fact that bombers were launched from an aircraft carrier, the USS Hornet--no small feat.

my dad said that in order for the B 25 bombers to take off they need X amount of speed. He said that with the ship pointed into the wind and the ship moving full speed that the plane could take off. He is a pilot so I would guess he would now but Mr.Brown is the teacher, and did they land on the carriers???

Bobby,
You are correct about B-25s not being able to land on carriers. During the Doolittle Raid, the B-25s took off from the USS Hornet but then ditched/crash landed. They were all hoping to make it to China, but some crews didn't make it. I will post more on their fate in a new post.
